How to attract the right audience, rather than just anyone?

All the big name internet marketers seem to use a lot of hype. I'm trying to work out if there is another way? In other words... I don't want to be a big name and I don't want hype. But I do want to market successfully online.

Something I try to do with my clients...

Basically specding money to achive first / second page of google and not getting enough sales, wondering if all the rest is worth the time & effort ie facebook, Twitter etc

The whole aspect of social media is moving so quickly, trying to keep upto date with it all can be a task in itself, interested in finding out more all the time, especially with my new business ventrue.

I am a novice with an open mind to fully explore all avenues of improvement

been playing around with key phrases etc for too long - interested in what you have to say, especially regarding using facebook/twitter etc and how to get on listings.

sounds exactly what I am looking for regarding on-line marketing of my small business.  Would like more hits and leads from my website and what I should be doing regarding social media to promote my services. Have read a lot about Twitter, Bloggs etc... but when you are a one man band it is very difficult to find the time for all these things especially when I find writing information not too easy.  Looking for some assistace and pointers in the right direction.

I am really frustrated as I am new to marketing and always believed that word of mouth was best.   Obviously I was wrong!?! The field that I cover and the market we are all in, you would have thought I would have a work load to die for but sadly not.  I would be interested to hear what you have to say and to offer.

Although we have an internal SEO person, one can never have enough traffic.  And, if we can offer constructive comments along the way that can be of service to you, so much the better.  This sounds interesting.

Too much confliciting advice about what works and what doesn't. PPC campaigns are costly and time consuming and SEO seems to be a bit of a black art to the layman. We just want someone who can show their methods work!

My frustration is that I'm getting loads and loads of salespeople calling me trying to sell me something, (several every day) so obviously people can find me but not enough potential customers. I can only put this down to either the recession or my website doesn't appeal. However everyone likes my website and says it looks great.

Like the idea of a free course, it will be useful to see just how much there is to know about online marketing. Please include me!

i wrote my own web page for fun and to teach myself about the web and HTML about 15 years ago and unlike a lot of companies I dont use it to "sell". Well truth is I trying to do things on a zero budget at the moment following a difficult personal family situation (translated as divorce). I am teaching myself by doing it!

That's why any free advice in one place is going to be beneficial to me...and as soon as I can afford my own site, if that's what's essentially required and I'm not convinced, going forward, then I WANT THAT KNOWLEDGE so I can get off to a flying start, on strategy, on time and on budget!

Intrigued by course your offering for free, recommendations for my services tend to come via medical professionals or word of mouth, reason I have a website is more for info on what I do, so I've never really pursued this area, perhaps I don't want to be staring at the screen for more than what I want, which isn't too much time!!!!

Internet marketing that I receive from others generally ends up being deleted unread, prefer to be doing other things than reading emails of no benefit...

Although high in rankings for certain keywords, we are not making many sales through our website. Perhaps we have the wrong keywords or perhaps the site isn't converting visitors to sales.

I spend around £150 per months on goole add words and keywords from a company called Zenith. I must go about 3 weeks and no calls from the web site, then I get about 3 calls in as many days, this has been happenening for the past 3 months.

My problem is I dont know how to get consistant results.

I check my google addwords every day and the impressions I get have varied from 750 one day to 11 the next. What is going...

Although people find me via the internet I am not sure if my web site needs tweaking or updating to make it easier to find. Updating my web site is a bit fiddley so I don't tend to do it often. I am reasonably happy with my site's layout etc.

There is so much hype on the Internet it is difficult to tell what is right from wrong.

 

You could spend lots of fruitless time on Social Media contacting the wrong people.

 

Google ads can drive the wrong traffic to your website; not potential buyers.

 

People are being bombarded with information; how can you get to decision makers? 

Too much to learn / do, too little time to do it when work is happening. Therefore it is not consistent.

I'm anxious to see the material and get assistance.  My business is an "online" business which I need to work on and get it recognized.

There's a lot of discussion on the Web about building email lists. However, there's little information on how to purchase large lists of optin subscribers and upload them to reasonably priced autoresponders.
